Welcome to Weight Loss Central, a free community site dedicated to helping teens stop the cycle of dieting and get control of their weight.  Our focus is on young people because we believe that catching issues with overeating, underexercising, and overweight early is key in preventing a life-long struggle with weight. 

Because this site was started by the same people who brought you Wellspring Academies and Wellspring Camps, our emphasis will be on the very healthy and easy-to-follow nutritional and activity plans that have been so successful at the Wellspring schools, camps, and adult retreats.

Child Overweight Rate Tops 30 Percent in 30 States

A new report from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Trust for America's Health has revealed that nearly one-third of children in 30 U.S. states are either overweight or obese. The problem is the worst in Mississippi, where 44.4 percent of children between the ages of 10 and 17 are either overweight or obese. Read Article
