Almost Half of Parents Wrong about Child's Weight
By Stefanie Hamilton
A study conducted at the University of Melbourne (Australia) found that many parents of both overweight and underweight children mistakenly believed their children were within average weight ranges. The study also found that different methods of assessing weight provided inconsistent results.
"Dr. Schmidt says the research points to a need to overhaul the ways in which children's weight is classified and provide better information to parents about appropriate weight at both ends of the spectrum."
