Yoga and Weight Loss

Just as fad diets are beginning to decrease in popularity, yoga is beginning to increase. The low-impact movements are touted as being safer than other types of physical activity like running. But can you lose weight with yoga?

I like yoga because it helps me destress and attempt to clear my head and just breath and stretch I find with a lot of cardio it tightens my muscle but this helps me loosen up and feel great after leaving a class. I haven't found any yoga that has elevated my heart rate by a whole lot but power yoga def. gets the heart pumping. Anywho with a mix of yoga and other cardio I find it to be a good mix of work outs. Sometimes I even do cardio then yoga to whine down.

I found that yoga really helped me because my joints were really sensitive and I wasn't pounding on. But what's reallyimportant is to get a good teacher for beginners especially if you are overweight. My first experience was really negative because the teacher expected me to do yoga like the skinny girls who had been doing it for years. I felt demoralized. THen I found the best teacher, who told me righ tup front - you do what you can do - it's not a contest!
