Teens with Food Allergies Ignore Risks to Avoid Embarrassment
By Jane St. Clair
Teens with food allergies often eat the very foods that threaten their lives because they are afraid of appearing different or being embarrassed, according to new research from the Johns Hopkins Children's Center. The same study also concluded that two-thirds of teenagers with allergies will not carry their medications with them for similar reasons.
"The bad news for pediatricians and parents is that teens with severe food allergies are doing things that put them at risk for severe, sometimes fatal, reactions," said Dr. Hemant Sharma, lead author of the study.

That's crazy! But, on a similar note, I understand... I don't eat meat or dairy and I always feel bad when someone goes to the trouble of cooking a big dinner that I can't (or won't) eat.
