The Fat Loss 4 Idiots Diet claims to manipulate your hormones in order to force your body to burn fat. The theory behind the plan is that the carbohydrate, calorie, and fat content of your food is not as important as eating the right foods at the right time of day. Eating four meals at two-and-a-half hour intervals regulates hormones, keeps you from feeling hungry, boosts your energy, and allows you to lose weight.

Another premise of Fat Loss 4 Idiots is that your body stabilizes at certain calorie levels. If you eat 2,500 calories a day, your body will learn to expect that. You can remain fat even if you eat 1,200 calories a day, unless you shock your body out of its complacency. This is called “calorie shifting.”

To use the Fat Loss 4 Idiots plan, you must visit their Web site and pay $19 to use their diet generator. You describe your food preferences and other information, and the generator creates a personalized 11-day plan to help you lose nine pounds. You pay an additional $20 to download additional written materials that teach you how to order in restaurants, how to buy foods at grocery stores, and even how to stay slim for life.

The Fat Loss 4 Idiots plan is different for each person, but it usually emphasizes lean proteins, fruits and vegetables, cottage cheese and eggs, and a few foods high in carbohydrates such as pasta and oatmeal. You are supposed to eat each meal until you feel comfortably full, but not “stuffed.”

Day One

Day Two

Meal #2: Chicken
Meal #3: Scrambled Eggs and Mixed Vegetables

Day Three

Meal #2: Fruit Salad

Meal #3: Fish Filet

Meal #4: Cottage Cheese

 

On the fourth day, you eat fruits and vegetables only. The last three days on the diet are typically “cheat meals” designed to shock your body out of starvation mode so you keep losing weight when you start over on your personalized Fat Loss 4 Idiots plan. The plan does not have an exercise component.
