Negative Calorie Diet
Description:
The theory behind the Negative Calorie Diet is that some foods contain fewer calories than it takes to chew and digest them. On the other hand, certain foods like high-calorie desserts take less energy to burn than their calorie contents, and therefore provide extra calories to be stored as fat. For example, if you eat a bowl of ice cream at 450 calories, it may take only 200 calories to digest, leaving a surplus of 250 calories to turn into fat. On the other hand, a grapefruit containing 150 calories actually takes 200 calories to digest, thereby burning 50 calories of fat.
The Negative Calorie Diet is an “all-you-can-eat” plan. You can eat all you want of foods that have “negative calories.”

Expert Review:
There is no scientific evidence of "negative calories." Simply following a low-fat, low-calorie diet will result in weight loss. Follow a balanced diet with lean proteins, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, and whole grains and add activity: Voila - weight loss. This diet is just another gimmicky approach.
