The Slim Fast Diet is based on replacing two meals a day with Slim Fast products that you buy at supermarkets. You eat one meal of “real food” per day, but you must control your portions at that meal. You are also allowed limited snacks. When you register on the Slim Fast website, you get a customized diet and exercise plan based on information you provide, such as your weight, favorite exercise activity, and so forth. You can use tools such as a weight loss calculator that tells you how much weight you can lose by a certain day. You can join the Slim Fast “community” to find tips, recipes and encouragement from others on the Slim Fast plan. The Slim Fast program allows you to have snacks and extras at one meal, depending on your weight. Higher-weight people get more calories at meals and more snacks. As they reach their ideal weight, their calorie count lowers.

1 four to six ounce serving of meat, poultry or fish

1 slice of whole wheat bread
½ bagel or
1 small multigrain roll
1 cup fresh vegetables (no dressing except Wishbone Spitzers)
½ cup cooked vegetables or another cup fresh vegetables (no sauces)
1 serving of fruit. Choose from:
½ cup of cut-up fresh fruit
½ cup frozen fruit or fruit canned in its own juice or light syrup or
½ cup berries
