The Special K Diet was originally a sales gimmick from the early 1960s to promote Special K cereal, a Kellogg product that provides a full day’s allowance of vitamins and minerals. The original diet was simple: you ate a bowl of Special K with milk for lunch and breakfast and had a regular dinner. Today Special K cereal comes in six varieties, including Chocolate, Cinnamon, Fruit and Yogurt, etc. Kellogg also has a line of Special K products, such as Protein Meal Bars, Protein Snack Bars, Cereal Bars, Snack Bars, Bliss Bars, frozen waffles, and Protein Water. The company has expanded the Special K Diet to include these products. The Special K Challenge Diet is a two-week regime that allows the dieter to lose five pounds.
