Total Health, Wellness and TruVision Health: Part 2

Food is a vital part of changing your life, even when taking TruVision products. No product will ever be a miracle pill that whisks away fat deposits while the treats, fried foods, soda, and sugar pile up in your cupboards! TruVision has certainly created a system of products that AID you in your path. But You MUST incorporate food and activity in order to make long-lasting changes. Although truFix and TruControl are incredibly-formulated products that DO assist in weight loss in seemingly miraculous ways, your results will be more sustainable if you incorporate a few changes into your daily routine.

When we left off last week, we had just discussed how to do a healthy food diagnosis in your own home, beginning with the cupboards. Now it’s time to go over what your fridge should look like on the inside. We all know that ice cold soda is the best. But going forward, soda needs to go! We rarely suggest a cold-turkey approach. For most people it doesn’t work. It often creates discouragement. Discouragement coupled with the inevitable caffeine withdrawal headaches is definitely not a great way to start your new life. (Thankfully truControl has the smallest bit of caffeine. When quitting soda, it is infinitely easier to accomplish this feat with TruFix and truControl during breakfast and lunch!) If you’re currently drinking 5 cans of soda a day, start by eliminating one a day until your soda supply is gone. Then don’t buy anymore! We know it’s hard to waste money by throwing away perfectly good fizz! To solve the problem by slowly finishing what you have and then don’t buy more. Although I gave up soda a couple of years ago, I grab the occasional fountain drink when the fizzy calls my name. But I never buy it at the store. I never bring it home. And I often don’t even finish what I DO buy at a restaurant. Once you break the chains of Carbonation Incarceration, never go back!

Last week we talked about donating your unopened non-perishables to your local food bank. Unfortunately, they won’t take perishables, so we will be addressing cleaning out your fridge a little more conservatively. Even small steps towards a larger goal are better than no steps at all. On your way to a healthier you, you definitely have to do more grocery shopping. Here’s why: Your fridge should contain MOSTLY produce…fruits and vegetables. You have to eat the fruits and vegetables you buy on a weekly basis or they spoil. So eat them! Buy them once a week and make a goal to finish them by the end of the week. Limit your fruit intake to one or two servings a day. Melons are good. Apples/Oranges/Bananas are Better. Berries are best.

You will always pay a bit more for pre-cut veggies, but sometimes the convenience factor is the deciding factor. If you know you won’t take the time to prep and cut veggies for snacks or meals, then spend the little bit of extra to get the veggie tray or bag of pre-cut veggies. Eat veggies to your heart’s content. They are high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. They help fill you up and aid in digestion. So stock up on carrots, celery, broccoli or broccolini (my favorite version of the little green tree variety!), cauliflower, zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes, cucumbers, and more. And yes, I always buy the bags of pre-cut and mixed kale and other leaf lettuces. It is SO easy to throw together a salad when I don’t have to slice the kale and spinach myself. Limit corn intake, as it’s actually a grain and not really meant for human digestion. However, the occasional summer cob dripping with butter and a dash of salt is fine!

Good lean meats like chicken and fish should be found in your freezer, ready for the grill or the oven. Lean Beef is great once or twice a week in a crock pot or patted into hamburgers and tossed on a grill. Look for and start using milk alternatives like Coconut Milk or Almond Milk in the cartons in the dairy aisle. Stock up on eggs and eat them with blatant disregard for the mid-90’s cautionary tales of eggs and their horrors. Eggs are an incredible source of complete and healthy good fat and protein. Use real butter, and Greek Yogurt in your recipes. Low Fat foods are stuffed with fillers and unnatural ingredients used to create “normal texture” and flavor. If you choose to buy dairy products, choose full fat cheese, yogurts, whole milk, or don’t do dairy at all. We will discuss this more in upcoming posts!
